Several OceanCanada Conferences took place: in Vancouver (2014, 2016), Halifax (2018), and a final event originally planned for Ottawa in 2020, which was postponed due to COVID-19 and ultimately never held as the project concluded. Instead, a book was produced, and a web-only conference with a Q&A session took place in 2024. Each conference brought together over 60 researchers, students, post-doctoral fellows, advisory board members, and community and institutional partners to review activities and advance an integrated research agenda. Through panels, round tables, workshops, and group discussions, delegates identified emerging threats, challenges, and opportunities for Canada’s oceans and coastal communities and began synthesizing key research priorities.
